St. Paul Canadiens Alumni Foundation supports Truth and Reconciliation.

St. Paul Canadiens Alumni Foundation recognizes the traditional lands of Treaty 6, 7, and 8 First Nations and the Metis Nation of Alberta. It honor’s the numerous Indigenous Jr. Canadiens Alumni Hockey players who were and continue to be part of its hockey playing history. Looking to build on the legacy of respectful support from past builders and leaders of the St. Paul Jr. Canadiens organization, the St. Paul Canadiens Alumni Foundation Board acknowledges the Calls to Action of the National Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

The St. Paul Canadiens Alumni Foundation Board commits to the following:

  • Become educated and respect the diverse history of Indigenous peoples of Canada, including the sad history and legacy of residential schools, by participating in ongoing learning sessions specifically for this purpose
  • Continue welcoming and respecting players of Indigenous descent who seek to be a part of the St. Paul Jr. Canadiens Hockey team
  • Seeking ways to improve relationships with surrounding Indigenous communities by hosting various events such as the 2023 NHL Indigenous Alumni team and the St. Paul Jr. Canadiens Indigenous Alumni team, and join in celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day June 21st, and National Truth and Reconciliation Day September 30th
  • Establish an educational scholarships program that recognizes one Indigenous player-student of the St. Paul Jr. Canadiens Hockey team and one non-playing Indigenous student annually to assist in their post-secondary pursuits toward rewarding careers
