Following its goal of supporting the broader community, another St. Paul Canadiens Alumni non-athletic scholarship was handed out last week. Last Tuesday, Henry Burrows was presented the scholarship from the St. Paul Junior B Canadiens Alumni and Saik Insurance.
Burrows, 18, from Two Hills, was chosen out of many individuals for the non-athletic scholarship.  He is taking a Bachelor of Science and Physiology and plans to use that to pursue medicine after his undergrad. “I’m very appreciative and it’s going to make a big difference with all the costs of school,” said Burrows.
Patrick Lamoureux, President of the St. Paul Jr. B Alumni, said they were overwhelmed with the applicants that they received this year. “It was a bit of a daunting task to select one individual where there were many, many individuals that could have been equal recipients,” said Lamoureux.
The St. Paul Jr. B Alumni and Saik Insurance have been in partnership since 2021. When beginning the partnership, It was important for Saik Insurance to establish not only an athletic scholarship but a non-athletic one.
“Education is the key to success and building up the next generation,” said Lamoureux. “And so recipients like Henry, who have been awarded this prestigious award, on behalf of Saik Insurance and the Alumni Foundation, we’re honoured.”
The St. Paul Jr. B Canadiens Alumni Foundation and Saik Insurance found a non-athletic scholarship important.
Sean Saik, financial advisor and mutual fund investment specialist of Co-Operators in St. Paul, said that they wanted to change things up. “To have a focus on community involvement, volunteerism, and things like that. That’s important to us and also important to the cooperator’s general insurance company on a national level,” said Saik.
The Alumni Board and Saik Insurance know the significant importance of implanting and implementing educational programs. “Because it’s about giving back to the community,” said Lamoureux.
